There are photographers who will haggle over prices and who will attempt to gain your business simply by being the least expensive, but these will seldom be photographers who make quality and professionalism a priority. These are pictures that you will cherish for the rest of your life, and if the quality is poor, it will show.

2. You Sign Contracts Without Reading Them First

It is not only one of the biggest mistakes but also one of the most commonly occurring – many people do not read the paperwork provided by their photographers. If a couple is serious about getting the best photographer, they need to take the time to read the contracts. Also, any items that are discussed between the photographer and client must appear in writing.

3. You Do Not Trust Your Own Instincts

If you have a bad feeling about a photographer, then you should pay attention to that feeling and walk away.

4. You Pay No Attention to Appropriate Dress and Behaviour

A photographer may take artistic license to dress in an unprofessional way or to behave in an unorthodox manner. This is fine for the photography studio, but may not work well at a wedding ceremony or formal reception. Do not forget to consider this when booking a photographer that appears less than professional.

5. You Overlook Issues With the Sample Album

A sample album is a must see for those procuring photography services for a wedding. When the photographer shows you a sample album, make sure that the album represents one wedding, as it is much more difficult to take many excellent shots at one wedding than only a few excellent shots from many weddings.

Also make sure that the sample album is from the photographer who will be at your wedding. If you have any doubt that the album is a true representation of the photographer who shows it to you, you should look elsewhere.
